About

Ann McLaughlin, MHA, DMA, is a Minneapolis-based expert in senior services. A healthcare administrator by training, Ann has worked in assisted living, nursing home, hospital, and long-term care consulting settings, offering clients deep knowledge across the aging sector. Prior to moving into upper management roles, Ann held both nursing home administrator and assisted living director licenses in Minnesota.

As a Congressional Fellow, Ann helped shape healthcare policy, writing legislation for and advising Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and her staff on general healthcare, Medicaid, Medicare, and aging services. Following her fellowship, Ann worked for the long-term care consulting company The Greenhouse Project (now AgingIN™). Additionally, Ann has provided research for projects funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging and the Minnesota Department of Human Services and currently translates complex research on quality in long-term services and supports into language suitable for state and federal policy makers to use to improve programs.

Following graduate school in music, Ann lived as a harpist-in-residence at The Waters of Highland Park assisted living community in St. Paul, an experience that profoundly affected her views on aging. More recently, she has helped care for two extended family members with dementia and faced the specific challenges of finding suitable services for someone with early onset dementia.

Ann holds a masters in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota as well as a masters in music and a doctorate in musical arts from the University of Illinois where she was a Distinguished Fellow.
